The Palo Alto Networks PA-5250 is a 3U rack-mounted next-generation firewall from the PA-5200 Series, built for high-throughput data center deployments. It delivers up to 36.7 Gbps of firewall throughput and 21.4 Gbps of Threat Prevention throughput, supporting 8 million concurrent sessions. As the PA-5200 Series' mid-tier model, it outperforms the entry-level PA-5220 while the PA-5260 and PA-5280 offer higher throughput. Single-pass parallel processing architecture inspects traffic once across networking, policy, and threat functions, reducing latency while maintaining full Layer 7 visibility. Built-in App-ID technology identifies every application on any port, including traffic hidden inside encrypted TLS/SSL sessions, without relying on port or protocol alone. It supports OSPF, BGP, and static routing alongside IPsec/SSL VPN and SD-WAN, with active/active or active/passive high availability. Centralized policy management and visibility are available through Panorama, giving administrators unified control across the deployment. Dual redundant 1,200W power supplies and RAID1-protected SSD and HDD storage keep the appliance running through component failures in demanding environments. Connectivity spans 4 copper, 16 SFP/SFP+, and 4 40G/100G QSFP28 ports, plus a dedicated out-of-band management port and RJ45 console port.
