The Cisco WS-C3850-48XS-F-E Catalyst 3850 is a 1RU standalone aggregation and campus core switch featuring 48x 1G/10G SFP+ access ports and 4x 40G QSFP+ uplinks for high-density 10 Gigabit Ethernet deployments. Switching capacity reaches 1.28 Tbps with a forwarding rate of 909 Mpps on the Cisco UADP ASIC at sub-microsecond latency. The F variant uses back-to-front (port-side exhaust) airflow for hot-aisle deployments; for front-to-back airflow see WS-C3850-48XS-E. The 48XS is the only Catalyst 3850 model that does not support StackWise-480 stacking, this switch operates in standalone mode only. Ships with IP Services license, the highest feature set in the Catalyst 3850 family, supporting full Layer 3 routing, MPLS, and advanced security features including 802.1X, Dynamic ARP Inspection, and DHCP snooping. One network module slot accepts C3850-NM-8-10G (8x 10G SFP+) or C3850-NM-2-40G (2x 40G QSFP+). A second PSU slot supports hot-swap redundancy.
