The Cisco Nexus N3K-C3172PQ-10GE is a high-density, high-performance Layer 2 and 3 top-of-rack switch from the Cisco Nexus 3100 platform, purpose-built for cost-effective and power-efficient line-rate switching in data center environments. Forty-eight 10G SFP+ ports each operate at 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, or 10 Gbps, while six 40G QSFP+ uplink ports each support native 40 Gbps or 4x10 Gbps breakout mode. Switching capacity reaches 1.4 Tbps with a forwarding rate of up to 1 Bpps, delivering line-rate traffic throughput on every port. The N3K-C3172PQ-10GE is a member of the Cisco Nexus 3100 platform and should not be confused with the N3K-C3172PQ-XL, a minor hardware revision adding an additional 4 GB of memory (8 GB total) for object-model programming support; all other specifications are identical between the two models. A phy-less switch architecture optimizes for low latency and low power consumption. Reversible airflow supports both port-side exhaust and port-side intake configurations with redundant AC or DC power supplies. Jumbo frame support extends to 9216 bytes. Runs Cisco NX-OS in standard N3K mode or N9K mode, with the N3K-LAN1K9 license required for full Layer 3 feature support when operating in N9K mode.
