The Cisco N2K-C2248TP-E-1GE is a Nexus 2000 Series fabric extender that extends a parent switch's data plane to remote server-access racks. It provides 48 1000BASE-T host interfaces and 4 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ fabric uplinks, delivering 176 Gbps of forwarding at 131 million packets per second. Unlike the N2232TM-E sibling, which offers 32 ports up to 10GBASE-T with 8 fabric uplinks, this model fixes all 48 host ports at Gigabit speeds. The -E designation adds 32MB of shared buffer memory, targeting bursty workloads like large-volume databases, distributed storage, and video editing traffic. Fabric interfaces run at 40 Gbps in each direction for 80 Gbps full duplex, with all switching intelligence handled by the connected parent switch. Dual hot-swappable power supplies keep the fabric extender running through a single power failure without interrupting connected host ports. A hot-swappable fan tray with redundant fans provides continuous cooling, allowing fan replacement without powering down the chassis. The fabric extender operates reliably from 0°C to 40°C with relative humidity up to 95 percent, suited to standard data center racks.
