The Cisco Meraki MX75-HW is a cloud managed security appliance from the Meraki MX Series, built for small and medium branch offices with up to 200 users. Compared directly to its MX85 sibling, the MX75 offers one fewer WAN uplink (3 versus 4) and mounts on a desktop rather than in a rack, while the MX85 drops the internal fan the MX75 relies on for cooling. It provides 3 dedicated WAN uplinks, made up of 1 Gigabit Ethernet SFP port and 2 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports, though current firmware supports up to 2 active WAN uplinks at once. On the LAN side, 10 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports handle internal connectivity, with 2 of those ports supporting PoE+ for powering cameras, phones, or access points directly. The appliance delivers up to 1 Gbps of site to site VPN throughput, 1 Gbps of stateful firewall throughput, and 1 Gbps of next generation firewall detection throughput, supporting up to 75 concurrent site to site VPN tunnels. Security features include Layer 3 and Layer 7 stateful firewalling, SNORT based intrusion detection and prevention, Cisco Advanced Malware Protection with optional Threat Grid integration, and content filtering. SD-WAN capabilities run over Meraki AutoVPN, with automatic WAN failover and custom traffic shaping for prioritizing critical applications. Management runs entirely through the Meraki cloud dashboard, with zero touch provisioning and automatic firmware updates simplifying deployment across distributed sites. An active Meraki license is required to activate and manage the appliance on the dashboard.
