It uses the same hardware as the CW9164I-B but is managed through the Meraki Dashboard cloud platform instead of an on-premises Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN Controller.

The Cisco Meraki CW9164I-MR is a Wi-Fi 6E access point built on the Catalyst 9164 Series hardware platform for high-density enterprise and campus wireless deployments. It uses three 4x4 radios spanning the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands, reaching a maximum PHY data rate of 7.49 Gbps. A dedicated fourth radio scans for RF interference and security threats, and an integrated Bluetooth Low Energy radio supports IoT and location services. Internal omnidirectional antennas deliver peak gain of 3 dBi at 2.4 GHz, 5 dBi at 5 GHz, and 4 dBi at 6 GHz. Connectivity includes a 2.5 Gigabit Multigigabit Ethernet port, a dedicated management console port, and a USB 2.0 port. Power is delivered via 802.3bt, 802.3at, or 802.3af PoE, drawing 14W to 30W by tier. The access point operates from 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit with 10 to 90 percent noncondensing humidity and up to 9,843 feet of altitude. It is Wi-Fi 6E, WPA3, and Bluetooth 5.1 certified. Unlike the CW9164I-B, which is managed on-premises through a Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN Controller, the CW9164I-MR runs the same Catalyst 9164 Series hardware through Meraki Dashboard cloud management.
