The Cisco C9500-40X-2Q-A is a managed switch from the Catalyst 9500 Series, built for enterprise core and aggregation layer deployments. It comes bundled with the C9500-NM-2Q network module for 2 additional 40 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks, unlike the bare C9500-40X-A, which ships without any network module installed and requires one to be purchased separately for uplink connectivity. It provides 40 fixed 1 or 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ ports for flexible access or distribution connectivity, plus the bundled 2x 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ uplinks for a total of 42 ports in a single 1U chassis. Built on Cisco's UADP 2.0 XL ASIC, the switch delivers 960 Gbps of switching capacity and 720 Mpps of wire speed forwarding. Cisco StackWise Virtual technology supports a 2-switch virtual chassis with Nonstop Forwarding, Stateful Switchover, and In-Service Software Upgrade for hitless software updates. The platform scales to 64,000 MAC addresses, 64,000 indirect IPv4 routes, and 4,000 VLANs, giving it substantial headroom for growing enterprise networks. A 4-core Intel x86 CPU running at 2.4GHz, paired with 16GB of DDR4 memory and 16GB of flash storage, supports container based application hosting with optional SSD expansion.
