The Arista DCS-7280SR-48C6-R is a switch router from the 7280R Series, built for data center aggregation and routing-heavy fabric deployments. This standard SR model omits the AlgoMatch advanced policy-based forwarding and packet classification found on the otherwise identical DCS-7280SRA-48C6-R sibling, keeping to core Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch routing capability. It provides 48 SFP+ ports supporting 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet alongside 6 QSFP28 ports for 100 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks. Switching capacity reaches 2.16 Tbps, non blocking, with a forwarding rate of up to 720 Mpps and a 768,000 entry MAC address table. A deep buffer VOQ ASIC architecture with 4GB of packet buffer eliminates head of line blocking and keeps latency to just 3.8 microseconds store and forward. The switch router supports full BGP routing, MPLS, Segment Routing, EVPN, VXLAN, and 128 way ECMP for demanding fabric and interconnect designs. It runs Arista EOS with CloudVision integration, zero touch provisioning, and telemetry tools including LANZ, sFlow, and DANZ. This rear-to-front airflow variant pulls cool air in from the port side and exhausts from the non-port side, using FAN-7000-R fan modules, and ships with 2 AC power supplies and matching power cords.
