The Cisco NCS-5011 is a compact, high-density router from the NCS 5000 Series built for service provider and data center edge deployments. It provides 32 ports of native 100 Gigabit Ethernet using QSFP28 optics, with flexible breakout support down to 40GE, 25GE, or 10GE depending on deployment needs. The router delivers up to 3.2 Tbps of throughput, giving it strong headroom for demanding aggregation and edge routing roles. An integrated route processor includes 16GB of DRAM and 64GB of mSATA storage for local software and configuration data. The system runs Cisco IOS XR Software, supporting third party application hosting, machine to machine interfaces, and detailed telemetry for network visibility. Redundant fans and optional redundant AC or DC power supplies keep the router running through component failures. The NCS-5011 can also operate as an extension shelf of the Cisco ASR 9000 Series using nV technology, consolidating multiple network layers and simplifying operations. Management runs through dedicated USB and RJ45 console ports for straightforward configuration and monitoring.
