The HPE Aruba R8N85A is a managed switch from the Aruba CX 6000 Series, built for branch offices, midsize businesses, and small enterprise access layer deployments. This model delivers a 370W Class 4 PoE budget across all 48 ports, half the 740W budget of its identically 48-port R9Y03A sibling, making it the right fit for standard access layer power needs rather than dense high-power PoE deployments. It provides 48 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ ports alongside 4 additional 1 Gigabit SFP ports for uplink flexibility. Switching capacity reaches 104 Gbps with a forwarding rate of 77.3 Mpps and latency as low as 1.9 microseconds at Gigabit speeds. A dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor running at 1016MHz powers the switch, backed by 8GB of DDR3 memory and 16GB of eMMC storage. The switch supports static routing alongside core Layer 2 switching, running on the Aruba ASIC architecture and the AOS-CX operating system shared across the entire Aruba CX portfolio. Fixed power supply and fixed fans keep the design simple and cost effective for entry level access switching. The switch supports stacking, side to side airflow, and mounts in a standard 1U rack space.
