The Cisco WS-C3850-24T-S is a stackable access switch from the Catalyst 3850 Series, running the IP Base software feature set for full Layer 3 dynamic routing capability. It shares its hardware with the WS-C3850-24T-L sibling, which runs the lower LAN Base tier limited to basic static routing, and the WS-C3850-24P-S sibling, which adds PoE+ instead of this model's data-only ports. It provides 24 data-only Gigabit Ethernet ports and a default 350W AC power supply, with support for optional network modules including a 4-port 1G module and a 2-port 10G module. The switch supports Cisco StackWise-480 technology for up to 480 Gbps of stacking bandwidth across up to 9 switches, delivering 92 Gbps of switching capacity and 68.4 Mpps of forwarding. It runs on 4GB of DRAM and 2GB of flash, supporting up to 32,000 MAC addresses. IP Base routing includes RIP-1, RIP-2, EIGRP, and RIPng for dynamic route exchange. As a wireless controller platform, the switch supports up to 100 access points and 2,000 wireless clients per switch or stack. Management options include USB Type A, Mini USB console, RS-232 console, and a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet management port.
