The "FP" designation marks this as the full PoE tier of the 48-port MS120 line, doubling the 370W PoE budget of the MS120-48LP-HW sibling to a full 740W across the same 48 ports. It provides 48 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports with auto MDI/MDIX crossover detection, alongside 4 additional 1 Gigabit SFP uplink ports. Switching capacity reaches 104 Gbps with a forwarding rate of 77.38 million packets per second, giving the switch solid headroom for converged voice, video, and data traffic. The switch uses a fixed internal power supply, drawing 37W at idle and up to 908W under full PoE load. Layer 2 access switching features include 802.1X, MAC based authentication, and Hybrid authentication with RADIUS server monitoring, alongside Rapid Spanning Tree, BPDU Guard, and Root Guard for network protection. Virtual stacking lets administrators manage port configuration changes across multiple switches directly from the Meraki dashboard without physical stack cabling.
