Its five line module slots take modules from 1GbE through 100GbE, including Smart Rate multigigabit and 60W 802.3bt PoE, and two management module slots allow hitless failover. Four hot-swappable power supply slots accept the 1800 W R0X35A or the 3000 W R0X36A, with up to 2880 W of PoE available per slot. Cooling comes from two hot-swappable fan trays carrying four fixed fans apiece. VSX supports active-active designs at Layers 2 and 3, and in-service software upgrades keep traffic moving during maintenance. Routing covers BGP, OSPFv2, OSPFv3, MPLS and ECMP, while EVPN and VXLAN support overlay fabrics. MACsec, a built-in TPM and FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography handle security.
